What is Earl Gray Tea? Earl Grey Tea
Even the most novice tea drinker has enjoyed a least a cup (spot?) or two of Earl Gray tea over the years? Yet what makes Earl Gray tea so popular?

Earl Grey tea is traditionally black tea to which Bergamot orange rind extract has been added. Although native to southeast Asia, Bergamot oranges are grown in Calabria (southern Italy) on small trees with winter blossoms.
Bergamot oranges ,'sour oranges', are yellow and lie between lemon and grapefruit in bitterness. Bergamot oranges are not for eating raw, but are cultivated for their rind and for cooking, candies, and of course, to flavor Earl Grey Tea!

Herbal teas, including all the teas discussed in these pages, should not be consumed by persons who are pregnant or nursing, unless approved by your health care provider. Herbal teas may vary in their ingredients and some herbal tea components may interfere with other important medications. For example, there is some concern that green tea ingestion during pregnancy may reduce the absorption of folate, an important nutrient in fetal nervous system development.
