Chrysanthemum Tea
is a flower based herbal tea originating in China. It is distinct from the more widespread Camellia sinensis based teas which are made from tea leaves, rather than flowers.
Chrysanthemum tea is prized for it's delicate floral flavor and is steeped in water that has been boiled but then allowed to cool somewhat. The resulting tea is a lovely clear or yellow color, unlike darker or deeper green or black Camellia based teas.
One of the most popular chrysanthemum based tea varieties is Huangshan tea, also known as Yellow Mountain Tribute tea (and sometimes called White Mountain Tribute tea).
Huangshan tea originates from the scenic Mount Huang mountain range in southeastern China. Mount Huang or Yellow Mountain is an iconic tourist destination due to the unique jagged rock formations, thousands of historic carved steps and breathtaking views of clouds and sunsets.
